~The Acrule, or 'sandlizards' as they are commonly called, possess a unique anthromorphic body structure. Shortened ribcages and loose, well-padded joints allow the typical sandlizard to twist their bodies into positions that would normally be anatomically impossible for typical humanoids; as a result they are a race known primarily for producing masterful gymnasts and contortionists.
Bodybending (a rough translation from Acrule native for contortion/gymnastics, which are usually associated together in that culture) originated from old-time mating rituals, performed by young males in competition for a female's attentions. Eventually it evolved into a sport and common excerise for both genders. The majority of professional bodybenders, however, remain male. Public shows are well-attended in all provinces, and culturally recognized masters are virtually idolized across the nations.
These lizard-boys are bodybending in the corner of a market square next to a merchant's tent, hoping to collect a little money for their amateur performance. The punctuated symbols scratched in the dust before the reed mat are diaon, chi, amia, respectively, and they read something like 'Please, for the family.' Evidently the village is going through hard times, and the two brothers are attempting to help put food on the table.
This was a quick ink drawing that I liked, so I hastily colored it.
Nice! There's just something about male contortionist that drives me crazy, in two ways. One being obvious reasons *glances at his icon* the other, being because they are male. And after seeing some cirque du solei shows on tv last year, I thought ONLY females could do that sorta thing. It sends a chil down my spine seeing a contortionist, male or female, doing that. It's like, "how on earth can they do that?" and just, "Wow!" at the same time.
excellent work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
